President of Kagame to make official visit to Belize

The Government of Belize has announced the official visit by Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.

According to media reports from the Caribbean Island, President Kagame will make the official visit from September 14 to 15, 2022.

The visit will be historic as it will mark the first such visit to Belize by a head of state from Africa.

During the recently held 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda in June 2022, Prime Minister John Briceño engaged with Paul Kagame and invited him to visit Belize.

Impressed with the President’s visionary leadership and complete transformation of Rwanda, from a country devastated by genocide in 1994 to one of the fastest growing economies in Africa, the Government of Belize recognizes Kagame’s stellar accomplishments. As such, he will be conferred with the Order of Belize on September 14, 2022.

According to, the President will sign agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries on September 15, 2022. Additionally, Kagame will address members of the House of Representatives and the Senate at a joint special sitting as well as students at the University of Belize.
